outhouse/inhouse
explored the idea of intimate experiences with art. The curators built
6 outhouses on the third floor of the New Arts Salon at 17 n. 2nd Street
in Philadelphia. The outhouses were constructed of scrap wood that the
curators collected. By using such material, they distinguished the show
from the staid "white walls" of the typical gallery environment. Within
these shelters 6 artist installed their artwork with the understanding
that the viewing public would take more than a moment to comprehend and
reflect upon the work presented. |
